Diversity in the residency program and community
As the only pediatric network of its kind in all of Central California, Valley Children’s service area extends from San Joaquin County in the north to Kern County in the south, and serves much of the Central Coast and eastern Sierra, as well. This vast region is called home to many diverse ethnicities, languages and cultures. It is also host to many challenges that affect children’s health. Valley Children’s is uniquely positioned to address many of these challenges and to help ensure a positive future for our region’s children.
Our Pediatric Residency Program is privileged to serve this diverse and vibrant Valley, and to honor Valley Children’s mission of providing high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services to children, regardless of their ability to pay, and to continuously improve the health and well-being of children. We strive to recruit resident physicians who reflect our program’s values of diversity and inclusivity while supporting a curriculum that aims to advance health equity and address social determinants of health affecting our patients.
