Trauma Conditions We Treat

Our pediatric trauma team is specially trained to treat a wide range of injuries and conditions that children may experience due to accidents or other traumatic events. Valley Children’s Pediatric Trauma team includes pediatric subspecialists from a variety of disciplines, as well as Child Life Services, Social Services, Medical Imaging, Blood Bank, Lab, and the Guilds Child Abuse Treatment and Prevention Center.

Here are some of the key conditions our Pediatric Trauma Center team manages:

• Head, brain and spinal injuries: Concussions, skull and spine fractures and traumatic brain injuries
• Chest and abdominal injuries: Rib fractures, injuries to the cardiovascular system, and damage to internal organs like the liver, spleen, or kidneys.
• Fractures and lacerations: External cuts, dislocations, and fractures
• Burns: Minor to severe burns
• Child Abuse: Recognizing and treating injuries resulting from abuse
