About Me

Board certified in general pediatrics, Dr. Deborah Sung joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a pediatric intensivist in August 2020.

Dr. Sung has practiced at Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, where she completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine.

After receiving her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Dr. Sung went on to complete a pediatric internship at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, New York, where she also completed a pediatric residency. Dr. Sung then completed her fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine from Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Sung is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and their special sections on Pediatric Critical Care and Transport Medicine. She is also a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Sung is passionate about physician education and mentoring. Throughout her career, she has served in several teaching roles, including providing lectures to critical care residents at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago on topics such as renal failure and shock. She has also authored clinical research, which has been recognized in various presentations and speaking engagements at industry conferences and peer-reviewed publications, including Pediatric Pulmonology.

Dr. Sung’s dedication to teaching and research have earned her several awards, including the Lurie Research Scholar’s Day First Year Fellow Basic Science Award and the Leo M. Davidoff Teaching Award.
